Opportunities are hard to come by, so they say. But how do we know which ones are meant for us? Sometimes it's easier to brush them aside because we are afraid. Afraid of the unknown. Afraid of undesirable outcomes. Afraid of failure. Yet if we live in fear we will also live in regret. What could have or should have been had we done this or that... Life cannot be lived in retrospection. Fear and retrospection paralyse us from getting anywhere. But what makes us overcome them? What makes us take that step of faith? Risk losing our known securities, false though they may be. Perhaps it is the nagging dissatisfaction of mediocrity and humdrum - enough is enough, we say. Or perhaps it is the hope of something better to come - anything is better than this, we say. But is it? The only certainty we have is that there are consequences either way, and we must be able to accept them regardless.
