Not much...

Not much is obvious
When we choose to hide within our souls
The angst and turbulence
That seethes underneath the niceties
Underneath the seeming piousness
That pervades our poise

Not much is said
When we can't be straight
Fearing to lose the friends we have made
Only to realise it is too late
Amidst the clamor of life's raid
Sweet memories begin to fade

Not much is gained
Through whispers, although tamed
Truth cannot remain
When it has been maimed
Over and over again
Until its very members become lame

Not much... not much at all...

Hehe... didn't mean to... just an outflowing of creativity in my 'crazy' state...

Actually, niceties in this context can better be defined as: "conformity with some esthetic standard of correctness or propriety" (courtesy of http://dictionary.reference.com/)

The poem somehow encourages one to be more open. I think sometimes, sadly, we would always find it safer to hide behind 'niceties', not realising that it robs others but also ourselves of richer fellowship. I'm speaking of myself in the face of being more bold in being real. Ah, we must have a coffee session soon!!! p.s., keep writing, you really have a wealth of worthy words coupled with adventures to share :-)
